Unceasing Worship
Vision Statement:
Using the framework of Psalm 78:72 (“integrity of heart” and “skillful hands”), we want to cultivate both the needed skills and the inspiration for worship team members to provide effective worship leadership for any and all LCF services or meetings that employ praise & worship as a part of their format. To achieve this we must provide:
- 1) A place of fellowship and community for team members to build “strength of relationships” with one another as brothers and sisters in Christ and as ministers to the church family;
- 2) A place of teaching and equipping for team members to help fashion and sharpen their musical skills, deepen their call to service, and expand their understanding of what worship means;
- 3) Opportunities for team members to cultivate their giftings and talents, by sharing in weekend services, Nights of Worship, Life Group meetings, and sponsored outreaches and missions
“Worship is nothing less than obedience to the command of God: ‘Delight yourself in the LORD’! (Psalm 37:4)…Worship is a way of gladly reflecting back to God the radiance of His worth. It is not a mere act of will power by which we perform outward acts. Without the engagement of the heart, we do not really worship. The engagement of the heart in worship is the coming alive of the feelings and emotions and affections of the heart. Where feelings for God are dead, worship is dead... Strong affections for God rooted in truth are the bone and marrow of biblical worship...It follows that forms of worship should provide two things: channels for the mind to apprehend the truth of God’s reality and channels for the heart to respond to the beauty of that truth—that is, forms to ignite the affections with biblical truth and forms to express the affections with biblical passion” (John Piper).
